Mezzo-soprano Aleta Braxton marked her 177th performance as a member of the LA Opera chorus in a production of Philip Glass’ “Akhnaten” earlier this year. A voice teacher at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, Braxton is the first woman and first Black woman to appear in that number of performances with any opera company.
