Behind the 8 Count: Dexter Carr’s Journey to Choreography, Stage, and the Big Screen

It’s safe to say that Dexter Carr’s entry into the dance world was serendipitous. He accompanied a friend to a dance studio at the age of 16 and fell in love with it. Before dance, he was playing sports like soccer, track, and baseball. Now, the Miami, Florida - born dancer, choreographer, and overall visual storyteller, has worked with the likes of Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, Kelly Rowland, Nike, Givenchy, Puma, Chris Brown, and more. Speaking of Chris Brown, Carr landed his first professional job in Brown’s hit music video, “Kiss Kiss.” The then 16-year-old heard about the opportunity to audition on the radio.
