For Black Californians living with rare diseases, getting the right diagnosis can take years. Finding a physician who recognizes the disease poses another hurdle. And when an effective treatment finally becomes available, patients and their families often wait months or even years to obtain the medication their physician has prescribed. For patients in underserved communities, those barriers can be even greater. Fortunately, that waiting time could be alleviated if a new law passes in Sacramento.
